Herbs help the body to naturally do what it is supposed to do.
(This information is not intended to be used as medical advice.)

Single Herbs

Alfalfa - The name means "Father of all Foods." It is extremely rich in vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, sodium, potassium, silicon, and trace elements. It is a good source of carotene (Vit. A) and Vit. K, the blood clotting vitamin. It has 8 essential amino acids and the highest chlorophyll content of any plant. Essential amino acids are not made by the body, but have to be supplied daily by our food or supplements. It can prevent tooth decay and helps rebuild decayed teeth, contains natural fluoride.

Aloe Vera Juice
- It is excellent for burns. It can be used by nursing mothers for sore nipples. Can be used as an eye drop to improve circulation and eyesight. It stimulates the circulation in wounded areas, which also promotes healing. Prevents and draws out infection, relieves itching in chicken pox. Expels pinworms if taken several days in a row. moisturizes the skin. Can also be taken internally for instant relief of upset stomachs.

Bayberry - Excellent in stopping profuse menstruation, especially when taken with cayenne. Also helps stop painful menstrual cramps and tones all female organs: strengthens the uterus during pregnancy. Use as a gargle for sore throats and cankers and as a wash for soft or bleeding gums. Used for sinus and adenoid problems.

Black Walnut - Used to kill and expel parasites, internal and external. It is also effective on the malaria parasite and on tapeworm. Used for herpes and impetigo... paint sores with extract and take internally. High in organic potassium, iodine and manganese. Strengthens and builds tooth enamel... contains natural fluoride. Helps to balance sugar levels.

Blessed Thistle - Used to enrich and increase milk in nursing mothers. Balances female hormone problems. It also strengthens the heart and the lungs, takes oxygen to the brain, strengthens memory. It will cause profuse perspiration.

Blue Cohosh - It helps to dilate the cervix during labor. It helps stop false labor pains. Although it has been used to start real labor, it will not start it unless it is time. Women who have trouble with the cervix dilating during labor received good results by adding 1 to 2 capsules, three times daily for 5 to 6 weeks before birth. Taking 2 capsules as labor begins has also helped to promote an easier and more rapid birth. It is also used to regulate and bring on suppressed menstrual flow. If you make a poultice you can use for an emergency remedy for allergic reactions to bee stings. It contains good amounts of potassium, calcium, iron, silicon and phosphorus.

Calcium Magnesium - Calcium is a critical part of all body systems, not just bones and teeth. Magnesium is required to lock calcium into an effective matrix. (2 parts calcium to one part magnesium). It is a relaxant (did you ever drink warm milk at bedtime?) will help you sleep and will relieve cramps. It is also a mild pain killer. I have one friend who used calcium during labor. They would have to wake her up to push and this did no harm to the baby.

Calendula Flowers - It is an anti fungal inflammation fighter. It is soothing to the skin. It can be ground into powder and added to ground chamomile flowers and cornstarch to make a powder that is very effective on babies, especially for diaper rash. Can be added to homemade soaps for healing properties gentle enough for babies. Catnip - Used for fevers and to alleviate symptoms of childhood diseases. It is good for stomach gas, cramps, and aids in digestion. You can use it for babies and young children for colic, stomach pains, teething and fevers. Catnip and Fennel in a combined tincture is excellent because it is a liquid and concentrated so a few drops are all that is needed. It helps to clean out the mucus in the body. It is used in enemas to bring down fever, eliminate mucus, relax the colon and ease colon cramping. Catnip enemas also relieve the aches of flu.

Cayenne/Capsicum - This is one of the most important herbs. It is an herb many herbalists would choose if they could only have one herb. It is in many combinations because it acts as a catalyst. It is nutritional as well as medicinal. It builds up the body's resistance. It is high in Vita. C and very good to take at the beginning of a cold. It is one of the best general stimulants. Stimulation is the key to healing. When the body and its organs are properly stimulated, they will heal, cleanse and begin to function normally. If taken regularly it will reach every part of the body. It improves the entire circulatory system, feeds the cell structure s of arteries, veins, and capillaries so they will regain elasticity. It regulates the flow of blood so it influences the heart immediately... the frequency of the pulse is not increased but is given more power. It normalizes blood pressure; used for both high and low blood pressure. If can be taken internally for an injury to stop internal and external bleeding. The powder can be poured directly on an external wound to stop bleeding, fight infection and promote healing. It may feel warm but it will never cause a blister. It can be used to treat shock or to keep someone from going into shock. It can be used with lobelia for tetanus. Use it for a gargle for sore throats or pyorrhea. It would be a good tincture to keep in your first aid kit.

Chamomile Flowers - It is soothing and relaxing to nerves. It helps you to sleep. It improves the appetite and aids in digestion. It brings a good flow of blood to the skin surface thus inducing perspiration. It regulates menstrual flow and helps in drug withdrawal.

Charcoal (Activated)
- It has an amazing ability to "attract" and absorb. This makes it ideal for removing poisons from the body. It is approved by the FDA in place of Ipecac for internal poisoning. The poisons adhere to the large surface area of the specially-processed, finely ground powder so that both are eliminated together. It will actually absorb intestinal gas, giving relief from bloating and acting to remove the intestinal coating that prevents normal absorption and removal of gas via the blood and lungs. It is also used internally for high cholesterol, food poisoning and to remove wastes from under active kidneys or liver. Use it externally for insect bites/stings and surface infections. Don't use for more than a few days at a time as it absorbs nutrients too.

Chickweed

It helps to control and regulate calcium levels in the blood and aids in blood sugar problems. It lubricates the ileocecal valve to keep it functioning properly. It increases iron in milk on nursing mothers. Its fluids clean the structure of the cell and its important minerals build new cell life. It is a great natural healer and cleanser for chronic conditions internally and externally. It stops growth and development of toxic bacteria. Disease causing bacteria find it difficult to live in the presence of chlorophyll.... it counteracts toxins. It accelerates tissue cell activity and normal re-growth of cells which helps the body heal faster. Gargle with it for your tonsils. It inhibits the metabolic action of carcinogens. It helps purify the liver and eliminate drug deposits, old toxic material, chemical spray on food, artificial flavoring, colors and other coal tar products that may become stored in it.
